About the Role

You will design APIs, frameworks, and abstractions for reinforcement-learning research. You will embed with research teams, improve research codebases, prevent silent failures through type safety and testing, support production RL monitoring and triage, and establish engineering standards and practices.

Requirements

• Deep Python expertise, including static typing, safe asynchronous and concurrency patterns, and performant code
• Experience designing safe, intuitive APIs or frameworks adopted by other engineers or teams
• Experience working in large, evolving, or research-style codebases
• Ability to prevent failure modes through system design, type safety, and testing
• Strong written and verbal communication skills
• Ability to scope ambiguous work and deliver maintainable outcomes
• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent education, training, or experience
• Relevant field of study demonstrated through coursework, training, or professional experience

Responsibilities

• Design APIs, frameworks, and abstractions for engineers and researchers
• Embed with research teams, build supporting systems, and transfer ownership
• Improve reliability and structure in research codebases
• Prevent silent failures through system design, type safety, testing, and refactoring
• Support production RL monitoring, regression detection, and triage tooling
• Define engineering standards, review practices, and design patterns
• Mentor researchers and engineers
