About the Role
You will own mechanical design standards and cooling architectures for AI data centers. You will design central plants and liquid- and air-cooling infrastructure, perform engineering calculations, develop technical documents, select equipment, review partner designs, support commissioning, and investigate cooling failures.
Requirements
- Experience designing mechanical systems for data centers, mission-critical facilities, central plants, or large industrial environments
- Knowledge of hydronic systems, heat transfer, chilled-water systems, heat rejection, pumping, filtration, and water treatment
- Ability to develop and review P&IDs, layouts, equipment schedules, specifications, and engineering calculations
- Knowledge of mechanical redundancy, failure domains, maintainability, and operational requirements
- Knowledge of applicable mechanical, plumbing, energy, and safety codes and standards
- Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering or equivalent practical experience
Responsibilities
- Own mechanical design standards and reference architectures for AI data centers
- Develop cooling architectures for greenfield, retrofit, and partner-operated facilities
- Design central plants and air- and liquid-cooling infrastructure
- Perform cooling-load, heat-transfer, hydraulic, pressure-drop, psychrometric, and capacity calculations
- Develop and review P&IDs, layouts, specifications, and basis-of-design documents
- Select and size cooling equipment and water-treatment systems
- Review partner designs and vendor submittals for compliance
- Support procurement, testing, construction, commissioning, and system bring-up
- Investigate cooling failures and operational risks
- Travel to project sites, manufacturers, and partner facilities as needed
