About the Role
You will design data-center cooling systems from GPU and rack heat capture through facility heat rejection. You will establish cooling standards, translate compute requirements into facility requirements, perform thermal and hydraulic calculations, review designs, support commissioning and GPU loading, and investigate thermal events.
Requirements
- Experience designing cooling systems for data centers, mission-critical facilities, central plants, or large industrial environments
- Knowledge of hydronic design, heat transfer, pumping, heat exchangers, chilled-water systems, and heat-rejection equipment
- Experience with direct-to-chip liquid cooling, CDUs, technology cooling-water loops, or high-density cooling systems
- Ability to develop and review P&IDs, equipment specifications, mechanical layouts, and engineering calculations
- Knowledge of cooling-system redundancy, failure domains, thermal ride-through, maintainability, and operational risk
- Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering or equivalent practical experience
Responsibilities
- Own cooling-system standards and reference architectures for AI data centers
- Design thermal paths from GPU and rack heat capture through facility heat rejection
- Translate server, rack, and cluster requirements into facility cooling requirements
- Develop air-cooled, liquid-cooled, and hybrid cooling architectures
- Design central plants, cooling-water loops, CDUs, heat exchangers, pumps, piping, chillers, and cooling towers
- Perform thermal, hydraulic, pressure-drop, heat-transfer, psychrometric, and capacity calculations
- Define redundancy, thermal ride-through, failure isolation, maintainability, efficiency, and water-consumption requirements
- Review partner designs, vendor submittals, equipment selections, and construction documents
- Support testing, construction sequencing, commissioning, cooling-system bring-up, and GPU loading
- Investigate thermal events and cooling failures
- Travel to project sites, manufacturers, and partner facilities as needed
Benefits
- Cash and equity compensation
- Health, dental, and vision coverage for employees and dependents
- Wellness and commuter stipends for select roles
- 401k plan with 2% company match for USA employees
- Flexible paid time off
