About the Role

Serve as the core architect and strategic engineering partner for Adyen's merchant fraud prevention systems, defining technical vision, guiding architecture, evolving ML and data infrastructure, aligning teams, and mentoring senior engineers.

Requirements

• Technical strategy and architectural leadership through influence.
• Deep experience designing and operating large-scale distributed systems.
• Strong focus on reliability, performance, and resilience.
• Experience architecting infrastructure for ML workloads, including feature stores, inference pipelines, or model serving.
• Experience partnering with operational teams such as Fraud Operations or Compliance.
• Familiarity with security-by-design and regulated data handling.
• Experience aligning SWE, MLE, Product, Operations, and Compliance teams.
• Production-grade LLM interfaces, policy enforcement, evaluations, or RAG architectures are a nice to have.

Responsibilities

• Own the multi-year technical vision for merchant fraud prevention engineering.
• Design high-throughput, low-latency distributed systems for real-time merchant transactions.
• Partner with engineering leadership on organizational health and technical investments.
• Shape the strategic product roadmap.
• Establish architectural patterns and engineering practices across fraud-focused teams.
• Mentor senior engineers and build clear growth paths.
• Evolve ML infrastructure, feature stores, model deployment, and real-time inference.
• Collaborate with Fraud Operations on platform and tooling requirements.
