About the Role
You will own the design of electric motors and related machines for aircraft. You will create electro-mechanical CAD models and drawings, integrate designs with aircraft systems, prepare manufacturing documentation, and perform qualification, noise, vibration, and hands-on testing.
Requirements
- 5+ years of mechanical design experience for electric motors
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent
- Knowledge of material selection, mechanics, dynamics, thermal design, DFM, and tolerancing
- Proficiency in 3D CAD modeling
- Experience with GD&T, tolerance stack-up analysis, and manufacturing tolerances
- Experience delivering motor products from design through production
- Hands-on experience verifying performance and integrating with power electronics
- Experience with noise, vibration, and harshness testing
- Hands-on experience with prototyping, testing, and troubleshooting
Responsibilities
- Own the design of motors and electric machines for aircraft
- Design motor subsystems and mechanical structural components
- Integrate designs with aircraft structure, engines, power electronics, and thermal systems
- Create 3D CAD models and 2D drawings
- Release work instructions and manufacturing documentation
- Execute testing and qualification on dynos, engine test stands, and aircraft
- Perform noise and vibration testing on motors, power electronics, powertrains, and thermal systems
