About the Role
You will recover, purify, chemically convert, and characterize enriched stable isotope materials with minimal loss. You will use analytical equipment, document processing activities, prepare reports and operator aids, collaborate with technical specialists, and maintain environmental, safety, health, and quality compliance.
Requirements
- BS degree in Chemistry or a closely related technical discipline
- At least 2 years of relevant professional experience
- Experience in inorganic or analytical chemistry laboratory work
- Experience with chemical characterization techniques and quantitative analyses
- Ability to obtain and maintain a Department of Energy clearance
- Pass a pre-placement drug test and participate in an ongoing random drug testing program
Responsibilities
- Perform recovery, purification, chemical conversion, and characterization of isotopic material from enrichment devices with near-zero loss
- Execute intricate chemical conversion processes to maximize yield and product purity
- Use mass spectrometry, electron microscopy, and other material-evaluation techniques
- Develop reports, presentations, and operator aids or guidelines
- Collaborate with scientists, engineers, and technicians in a multidisciplinary, multi-laboratory environment
- Ensure compliance with environmental, safety, health, and quality program requirements
