About the Role
You will build and deploy production models that support factory scheduling, capacity planning, pricing, lead-time estimates, inventory decisions, and forecasting. You will model factory workflows, identify bottlenecks, calibrate simulations against data, and integrate reliable code into planning and quoting systems. You will visit UK and US factories regularly.
Requirements
- Have a quantitative background in operations research, applied mathematics, statistics, quantitative finance, economics, or a similar field
- Have experience building models that influence real decisions
- Know linear programming, integer programming, constraint programming, or heuristics
- Have experience with simulation and forecasting
- Have strong Python and SQL skills
- Use coding agents while retaining ownership of their output
- Be curious about physical manufacturing
Responsibilities
- Schedule orders, panels, and machines for throughput and on-time delivery
- Model factory workflows and identify bottlenecks and capacity needs
- Estimate order costs and support pricing and lead-time decisions
- Determine inventory levels and purchasing timing for parts and consumables
- Deploy models into production planning and quoting systems
- Validate model outputs against operational outcomes
- Visit factories in the UK and US regularly
