About the Role
You will lead end-to-end user research for developer tools, operational interfaces, and platform capabilities used in industrial robotics. You will plan and conduct generative and evaluative studies, translate findings into design recommendations, partner with product and engineering leads, conduct on-site factory research, and support product or program management activities when needed.
Requirements
- Master's or PhD degree in Human-Computer Interaction, Human-Machine Interaction, Cognitive Science, Psychology, Computer Science, or equivalent practical experience
- 4+ years of user research experience in developer products, complex software platforms, or hardware and robotics interfaces
- Experience working at a startup-like pace within an enterprise setting
- Experience using modern AI and agentic tools for research synthesis and workflows
- Expertise in qualitative research methods, including ethnography, field studies, usability testing, and interviewing
- Willingness to conduct field research in active industrial, manufacturing, and factory environments and comply with PPE and safety protocols
Responsibilities
- Plan and execute generative and evaluative research studies across factory UI, developer tools, and robotic platform interfaces
- Translate field observations and developer feedback into actionable design recommendations
- Partner with product and engineering leads to align research goals with platform engineering milestones
- Conduct on-site fieldwork and observational studies in industrial and manufacturing plants
- Travel domestically and internationally up to 15–20%
- Support product management or program management activities to maintain project momentum and align execution
