About the Role

Define the long-term technical strategy for a cloud storage engine and drive its architectural roadmap. Build storage foundations with C, C++, Go, or Rust, work with storage protocols, lead critical architecture decisions, solve performance bottlenecks across distributed clusters, and collaborate with executive leadership and product teams.

Requirements

  • 12+ years of experience building and operating large-scale distributed cloud computing infrastructure products
  • Strong troubleshooting and performance tuning skills
  • Deep theoretical and practical knowledge of distributed state and data protection at petabyte scale
  • Mastery of professional software engineering practices across the full SDLC
  • Ability to lead initiatives across the engineering organization
  • Experience with C, C++, Go, and/or Rust

Responsibilities

  • Define and drive the long-term technical strategy for the storage engine
  • Identify industry trends and integrate them into the storage roadmap
  • Build the foundations of the storage re-architecture
  • Architect and implement NFS, SMB, iSCSI, and NVMe/TCP solutions
  • Drive and maintain open-source contributions
  • Serve as the final arbiter for critical architecture decisions
  • Lead complex design reviews across storage, networking, and virtualization
  • Lead teams solving performance bottlenecks
  • Align technical capabilities with business milestones
