About the Role
You will own network architecture from design through production operations. You will lead cross-functional networking projects, create RFCs and technical reviews, solve difficult production issues, automate operations, evaluate network vendors and products, mentor engineers, and participate in on-call operations.
Requirements
- Experience owning technical direction for a significant production network area
- Experience leading large production-scale networking projects across multiple teams
- Expertise in large network design, availability, and performance
- Deep expertise in data-center, backbone, and internet protocols
- Experience with low-latency, fast-convergence, and highly available networks
- Cloud-provider networking experience
- Knowledge of the Linux networking stack
- Python, Ansible, Jinja, network API, and source-control skills
- Experience with network vendors including Arista, Juniper, Cisco, Cumulus or SONiC, and Opengear
- Mentorship and technical design-review experience
Responsibilities
- Own the end-to-end architecture of major network areas
- Lead multi-team networking projects from design through turn-up
- Write technical designs, RFCs, and reviews
- Resolve complex production network issues
- Automate operational work with scalable software
- Qualify and integrate network hardware and software
- Build telemetry and automation for observable, self-healing network health
- Mentor senior and mid-level engineers
- Contribute to multi-year network strategy
- Participate in day-two operations and on-call rotation
