About the Role
You will lead APQP and PPAP activities at contract manufacturer and Tier 1 sites, improve designs for manufacturability and assembly, and define manufacturing processes for electromechanical systems. You will qualify equipment and gauges, validate end-of-line testing, resolve production failures, and present manufacturing readiness.
Requirements
- Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering or a similar field
- Experience launching automotive or high-tech hardware at Tier 1 or contract manufacturers
- Experience transitioning products from prototype to production-validated manufacturing lines
- APQP and PPAP management experience
- Knowledge of control plans, process flows, Gage R&R, Cpk, design verification, and process verification
- SolidWorks proficiency
- GD&T and metrology expertise
- Experience with CMM, OMM, or vision systems
- 8D and root-cause corrective-action expertise
- Experience with PLM tools, document revision control, ECOs, and BOM accuracy
- Experience with precision torque, TIM dispensing, and sensor calibration
Responsibilities
- Lead APQP program management and obtain PPAP deliverables
- Provide design-for-manufacturing and design-for-assembly feedback
- Validate integration of component-level PPAPs into assembly processes
- Define manufacturing processes for mechanical assembly, testing, and integration
- Deploy and validate end-of-line testers and calibration routines
- Develop PFMEAs, process flow diagrams, control plans, and work instructions
- Design and qualify manufacturing equipment, tooling, and gauges
- Conduct process-verification and run-at-rate studies
- Lead root-cause corrective actions using 8D
- Manage metrology and measurement-systems analysis
- Update manufacturing control plans using field-quality feedback
- Present manufacturing readiness to cross-functional teams
