About the Role

You will lead the technical design of autonomy solutions and make key trade-off decisions. You will develop mission behaviour, navigation, and decision-making logic; integrate and deploy software to embedded hardware; conduct SIL and HIL testing; support UAV flight tests; troubleshoot integration issues; mentor engineers; and work with vendors and customers.

Requirements

  • BS or MS in Robotics, Computer Science, or a related engineering field
  • 6+ years of hands-on robotic systems experience
  • Experience leading technical design decisions for autonomy problems
  • Experience with autonomy behaviour decision-making logic or navigation algorithms
  • Experience with modern C++
  • Experience with Pixhawk autopilots including ArduPilot or PX4
  • Experience with UART, RS232, RS422, RS485, SPI, QSPI, I2C, and Ethernet
  • Experience with Docker, containerized deployment, and Linux operating systems
  • Familiarity with real-time edge computing safety-critical SIL and HIL systems
  • Ability to hold UK Security Clearance

Responsibilities

  • Lead the technical design and architecture of autonomy solutions
  • Mentor junior and mid-level engineers and review designs and code
  • Develop mission behaviour navigation and decision-making logic
  • Design modular reusable autonomy capabilities
  • Integrate and deploy autonomy solutions to embedded Linux and hardware platforms
  • Conduct SIL and HIL system setup testing and validation
  • Support live UAV flight testing
  • Troubleshoot complex software and integration issues
  • Collaborate with UAS vendors and cross-functional teams
