About the Role

You will build and maintain reliable payment-processing services for card and alternative payment methods. You will develop integrations, reconciliation pipelines, reporting and alerting, fraud and dispute workflows, and secure compliant payment-data systems. You will participate in incident response, code reviews, architecture discussions, and mentor junior engineers.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of software engineering experience with PHP and Go
  • At least 2 years of production payment-processing experience
  • Experience with card authorization, clearing, settlement, reconciliation, and chargebacks
  • Experience integrating with alternative payment providers
  • Understanding of card-network models, interchange, BIN logic, MCC codes, AVS, CVV, and 3DS/SCA
  • Understanding of distributed systems, idempotency, eventual consistency, fault tolerance, and high availability
  • Proficiency with RESTful or event-driven APIs in a payments context
  • Familiarity with PCI DSS and payment-data security
  • Debugging and incident-response skills for high-volume financial systems

Responsibilities

  • Implement and maintain services for card authorization, clearing, and settlement workflows
  • Build integrations with acquiring banks, card networks, payment gateways, fraud providers, tokenization services, and alternative payment methods
  • Implement payment routing, retry, failover, idempotency, and state-management mechanisms
  • Support 3D Secure, Strong Customer Authentication, card vaulting, and tokenization
  • Build automated reconciliation pipelines and reconcile internal ledgers against external reports
  • Develop safeguards for revenue leakage, ledger consistency, audit readiness, and financial controls
  • Build payment reporting, dashboards, monitoring, and threshold-based alerting
  • Participate in on-call rotations and incident response
  • Build compliant systems for sensitive payment data and support audits
  • Integrate fraud detection and risk scoring systems and implement chargeback workflows
  • Write well-tested and documented code, participate in reviews and architecture discussions, and mentor junior engineers
