Required and preferred rules are kept separate and reflect the wording in the original posting.

About the Role

You will design and build resilient Layer 2 and Layer 3 network topologies for V-BAT mission profiles. You will implement embedded Linux networking features, low-latency communication paths, network interfaces, traffic shaping, and link failover mechanisms. You will validate network performance with software, hardware, and field operators in hardware-in-the-loop and flight-test environments.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree with 5+ years of relevant experience, Master's degree with 4+ years, or PhD with 2+ years
  • Proficiency in C, C++, or Python in a Linux environment
  • Experience shipping software that interacts with the OS networking stack
  • Understanding of Linux networking, including netlink, routing, firewalls, TUN/TAP, network namespaces, and socket programming
  • Knowledge of Layer 2 and Layer 3 networking, routing, VLANs, QoS, VPNs, and tunneling
  • Experience troubleshooting network degradation with tcpdump, Wireshark, iproute2, and iperf
  • Ability to obtain a security clearance

Responsibilities

  • Design and build resilient Layer 2 and Layer 3 network topologies
  • Implement networking features on embedded Linux operating systems
  • Build bandwidth-optimized, low-latency communication paths over constrained links
  • Write C, C++, or Python software for network interfaces, traffic shaping, and link failover
  • Validate end-to-end network performance in hardware-in-the-loop labs and flight-test environments
