About the Role
You will build and maintain AI-enabled internal engineering tools for coding, testing, deployments, and defect triage. You will improve observability, automate manual development and release activities, safely integrate LLM tools with development platforms, and measure the impact of the tooling. You will also mentor less experienced engineers and help ensure responsible AI use in the software development lifecycle.
Requirements
- Extensive software engineering experience with technical judgement on production systems
- Hands-on Java or comparable backend service ecosystem expertise
- Test-driven development expertise
- Pair programming experience
- Experience designing, building, deploying, and supporting production systems
- Experience evaluating or using LLM-based developer tools
Responsibilities
- Build and maintain internal AI tooling for coding, test generation, deployments, and defect triage
- Improve observability across the AI-assisted engineering pipeline
- Automate manual coding, testing, and release activities
- Deliver work in small, releasable pieces
- Collaborate with product stakeholders on delivery
- Bring AI into the testing pipeline through exploratory test generation, defect clustering, flaky-test detection, and prioritisation
- Evaluate and roll out LLM-based developer tools
- Integrate AI tools safely with Jira, Confluence, GitLab, and CI/CD systems
- Refine responsible AI standards for data handling, prompt hygiene, and production-data guardrails
- Mentor less experienced engineers on AI tooling
- Work with security and compliance on regulatory and data-handling requirements
- Track delivery, quality, and test metrics and iterate on tooling
