About the Role
You will build and own maritime autonomy features from design through operational deployment. You will develop motion planning, localization, tracking, safety, and multi-agent collaboration capabilities for unmanned maritime systems. You will deploy and test software on vehicles, analyze mission performance, mentor junior engineers, and help advance autonomy roadmaps.
Requirements
- BS or MS in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or a similar field, or equivalent practical experience
- Minimum 10 years of related experience with a bachelor's degree, 9 years with a master's degree, or 7 years with a PhD
- C++ and Python proficiency
- Background in control systems, motion planning, optimization, tactical behaviors, or distributed decision-making
- Experience with unmanned system technologies and algorithms
- Experience with simulation tools such as AFSIM or NGTS
- Ability to obtain a Secret clearance or higher
Responsibilities
- Develop autonomy capabilities for USVs, UUVs, and cooperating UAVs
- Develop motion planning subject to safety constraints, vehicle traffic, and depth limitations
- Develop localization and tracking capabilities using sensor fusion and observability-aware maneuvering
- Implement runtime assurance and COLREGS-compliant maritime autonomy behaviors
- Develop distributed optimization and task allocation for heterogeneous multi-agent teams
- Develop tested high-performance software modules for Technology Readiness Level insertions
- Integrate autonomy solutions with perception, planning, simulation, hardware, and operational test teams
- Deploy capabilities to surface vehicles and analyze mission logs
- Research and prototype algorithms for autonomy roadmaps
- Mentor junior engineers
- Travel around 25% of the year
