About the Role
You will own complex product experiences for an AI-enabled decision-support system, leading discovery, user research, workflow mapping, prototyping, interface and interaction design, and delivery from concept through implementation. You will design data-dense workflows, AI explainability and review patterns, accessible interfaces, dashboards, and reusable design systems while partnering closely with product, engineering, customers, and an existing designer. You will also establish design practices and support adoption.
Requirements
- 8+ years of product or UX design experience
- Portfolio of shipped complex applications used by people doing real work
- End-to-end ownership of system design from discovery through launch
- Experience designing data-dense, workflow-heavy enterprise interfaces
- Strong visual design skills in layout, hierarchy, and typography
- Direct user research experience with interviews and observation
- Ability to balance user needs, business goals, and technical constraints
- Strong prototyping ability in Figma or equivalent
- Information architecture and design-system experience
- Experience designing for expert users and working with subject-matter experts
- Section 508 and WCAG accessibility fluency
- Experience working in a cross-functional agile product team
- US citizenship
- Active US Top Secret clearance
- CAC eligibility
- Willingness to travel up to 25%
- Preferred: government user experience
- Preferred: review-queue, triage, or high-volume workflow interface experience
- Preferred: AI or model-output interface experience
- Preferred: government accessibility review and remediation
- Preferred: fixed-deliverable design work with formal customer acceptance
- Preferred: HTML, CSS, and React fluency
- Preferred: enterprise, regulated, or technically complex product experience
Responsibilities
- Run structured discovery with end users through interviews, shadowing, and workflow observation
- Produce current-state and future-state workflow maps
- Translate mission and operational needs into interaction designs
- Deliver an interactive clickable prototype covering queues, enrichment panels, record history, and dashboards
- Design the user workspace end to end
- Apply and contribute to a design system
- Design interfaces for high-volume repetitive work
- Design accessible interfaces meeting Section 508 and WCAG requirements
- Present model recommendations, confidence, and supporting evidence
- Make uncertainty and insufficient evidence visible
- Design review and override paths
- Design audit and traceability views
- Partner with product and engineering from problem definition through launch
- Hand off buildable designs to front-end engineers
- Review implementations against the design
- Present design rationale to stakeholders
- Iterate using usage feedback, analytics, and acceptance-testing results
- Support training and adoption materials
- Establish repeatable research practices and reusable patterns
- Raise design quality through review and collaboration
