About the Role
Serve as the internal expert on wholesale and retail energy markets, demand response, risk management, and power procurement. Coordinate power scheduling, optimize curtailment programs, develop hedging strategies, negotiate power agreements, monitor regulations, evaluate co-location power costs, and prepare financial models and reports.
Requirements
- At least 3 years of hands-on experience at a QSE, power marketing company, IPP, or energy consultancy with QSE-level trading responsibilities.
- Experience executing day-ahead and real-time scheduling in ERCOT and/or PJM.
- Experience designing and managing industrial demand response programs in deregulated markets.
- Experience structuring block energy hedges and forward power positions.
- Track record negotiating power supply agreements.
- Proficiency with ERCOT and PJM market tools.
- Strong financial modeling skills in Excel or Google Sheets.
- Ability to build and interpret load forecasting models, price curve analytics, and hedging P&L reports.
- Understanding of FERC, NERC, PUCT, PJM, and ERCOT tariff and market rules.
- Familiarity with SCADA or EMS systems is advantageous.
- Familiarity with Bitcoin mining load profiles and hashrate economics is a plus.
Responsibilities
- Coordinate day-ahead and real-time power scheduling with REP and QSE partners.
- Monitor market pricing, ancillary services, demand response products, and settlement statements.
- Design and optimize curtailment and demand response programs.
- Build real-time demand response dispatch models and coordinate Coincident Peak strategy.
- Develop forward power hedging frameworks and structure block energy purchases.
- Provide mark-to-market reporting, hedge ratio analysis, and cost exposure assessments.
- Lead or support negotiations for PPAs, REP contracts, QSE agreements, and co-location terms.
- Track regulatory developments affecting power markets and demand response compliance.
- Maintain market surveillance dashboards and publish executive power market reports.
- Audit co-location power terms, benchmark effective rates, and recommend cost-saving actions.
- Build financial models and prepare periodic power cost reports across all sites.
