About the Role
You will design and validate automotive wire harnesses and busbars for autonomous vehicles. You will create CAD designs, drawings, BOMs, manufacturing documents, and work-instruction graphics; define routing, connectors, strain relief, and electrical design considerations; and support builds, testing, and dimensional correlation between models and physical harnesses.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience in Mechanical Engineering or Electrical Engineering
- 3+ years of experience developing automotive harness systems from concept to production
- Experience with 3D mechanical CAD
- Experience with PDM and PLM
- Familiarity with AS50881, MIL-E-7016, EWIS, and MIL-STD-704
- Ability to translate electrical schematics into cable routing and endpoint mapping
- Experience managing complex 3D harness assembly hierarchies
Responsibilities
- Design automotive wire harnesses and busbars using SolidWorks
- Define wire routing paths, lengths, strain relief features, and connector selection
- Create drawings and BOMs
- Release design documents through Arena PLM
- Create CAD graphics for work instructions
- Incorporate EMI, grounding, tolerancing, clearance, and functionality trade-offs
- Participate in first-article builds and travel within the United States
- Validate designs through builds and verification testing
- Ensure correlation between 3D models and physical harness dimensions
