About the Role

You design and document production tooling, fixtures, assembly aids, and test tooling in SolidWorks, participate in DFM and DFMA reviews, qualify tooling, create work instructions, troubleshoot production issues, manage tooling changes and revisions, and improve fixture performance, yield, and ergonomics.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or equivalent
  • 3-6 years of fixture design, tooling engineering, or mechanical design experience in manufacturing
  • Proficiency with SolidWorks 3D modeling, sheet metal, weldments, and drawing creation
  • SolidWorks PDM experience preferred
  • Working knowledge of ASME Y14.5
  • Understanding of machining, welding, and sheet metal fabrication
  • Ability to lift or move up to 50 pounds
  • Ability to stand or walk for extended periods
  • Experience with tooling for sheet metal enclosures, structural weldments, or electrical switchgear is a bonus
  • Lean Manufacturing or poka-yoke experience is a bonus
  • ERP or MRP experience is a bonus
  • EIT credential or progress toward PE licensure is a bonus

Responsibilities

  • Design and detail jigs, fixtures, assembly aids, and test tooling
  • Produce fabrication drawings, BOMs, and technical packages
  • Participate in DFM and DFMA reviews
  • Coordinate first-article inspections with fabrication vendors
  • Document inspection results and manage non-conformances
  • Author and maintain work instructions and tooling setup sheets
  • Support production floor troubleshooting
  • Manage tooling revision history in SolidWorks PDM
  • Execute engineering change orders affecting tooling
  • Coordinate tooling updates with Production Planning
  • Improve fixtures based on assembly feedback, yield metrics, and ergonomics
