About the Role
You will manage critical workstreams within the financial reporting function during a period of significant institutional scaling. You will direct key accounting policies, lead cross-functional projects, and manage teams including offshore resources to ensure strict compliance with U.S. GAAP and regulatory requirements. You will build and manage a definitive source of truth within a complex, high-volume trading and regulated derivatives environment, splitting your time evenly between advanced technical expertise and operational management. You will direct forensic review and reconciliation of complex historical data, act as an internal authority on ASC 606 and 805, lead drafting of financial disclosures and MD&A for registration statements and SEC engagements, and design SOPs that tighten integration between crypto sub-ledgers and NetSuite.
Requirements
- Proven track record transitioning from Big 4 Audit/Technical Desks into Accounting Advisory or in-house accounting leadership at a high-growth digital assets firm, FinTech startup, broker-dealer, or investment bank
- Direct hands-on experience with financial record keeping, regulatory capital computations, and filing frameworks for a CFTC Swap Dealer, Futures Commission Merchant (FCM), or SEC Broker-Dealer
- Experience managing multiple departments or workstreams and leading large high-priority projects with direct reports or offshore teams
- Proficiency in Workiva and NetSuite
- Direct experience with SEC Pre-clearance, Purchase Accounting (ASC 805), and DeFi Accounting
- Ability to partner cross-functionally with Trading and BizDev teams on accounting impact of DeFi yields and wrapped assets
- Flexibility to work across different time zones during crucial periods such as month-end closes
- Ability to thrive under pressure in a fast-paced, dynamic environment
Responsibilities
- Manage technical accounting and reporting workstreams, set operational objectives, delegate tasks, and oversee departmental schedules and budgets
- Direct the forensic review and reconciliation of complex historical data to ensure an audit-ready foundation
- Act as a core internal authority on ASC 606 and 805, including principal vs. agent nuances, M&A integrations, and DeFi yield protocols
- Lead project management and drafting of financial disclosures and MD&A for registration statements, S-1/F-1 prospectus disclosures, and SEC engagements
- Design, implement, and monitor SOPs for offshore teams and direct reports
- Tighten integration between crypto sub-ledgers and NetSuite to improve month-end cadence
