About the Role

You will build original economic and data models, analyze trade and financial flows, and assess policy scenarios involving sanctions, export controls, tariffs, investment restrictions, and other economic statecraft tools. You will develop supply-chain risk reports, identify adversary dependencies and chokepoints, and translate quantitative findings into reports and policy memos. You will also brief senior government, corporate, and press audiences on complex economic findings.

Requirements

  • Advanced degree in economics, international political economy, finance, a related field, or equivalent relevant professional experience
  • 10+ years of quantitative economic or financial analysis experience
  • Understanding of U.S. and allied sanctions and export-control architecture, including OFAC and BIS regimes
  • Fluency with large datasets and tools such as Stata, R, Python, SQL, or comparable tools
  • Ability to build original models, analytical frameworks, and reproducible research workflows from messy or incomplete data
  • Experience producing clear written analysis for non-technical policy audiences
  • Ability to brief senior government officials, corporate risk teams, and press audiences
  • High ethical standards and sound judgment handling sensitive, non-public, or classified-adjacent information

Responsibilities

  • Build economic and data models for country-specific risk matrices and policy scenarios
  • Analyze global trade data, FDI flows, customs records, and financial transactions
  • Develop supply-chain risk reports for critical industries, emerging technology sectors, and high-risk trade routes
  • Assess the effectiveness of sanctions, export controls, and positive economic power
  • Produce data-driven analyses of economic security policy options and tradeoffs
  • Translate quantitative findings into reports, policy memos, and other written products
