About the Role
You will own large-scale distributed network services, including their architecture, operations, monitoring, security, performance, and availability. You will set technical strategy, improve observability and traffic engineering, establish SLOs and incident practices, partner with network and product functions, and hire and develop engineering leaders.
Requirements
- 8+ years building highly available large-scale distributed systems for cloud infrastructure or enterprise network architecture
- 5+ years leading software engineering teams and 2+ years managing managers
- Software engineering background with experience shipping production systems
- Expertise in BGP, EVPN/VXLAN, software-defined networking, traffic engineering, zero-trust security, CI/CD automation, and AWS or OCI
- Experience scaling organizations that deliver mission-critical cloud connectivity
- BS or MS in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or related field, or equivalent practical experience
Responsibilities
- Own network services for monitoring, security, performance, and availability
- Own architecture and operational excellence for distributed network systems, control planes, and data paths
- Improve security posture, network-health observability, and internet and backbone traffic engineering
- Set multi-year technical strategy for network software services
- Hire, develop, retain, and structure engineering teams
- Manage leaders and senior individual contributors through feedback and growth planning
- Partner with network engineering, operations, capacity, and product functions
- Set SLOs, on-call practices, incident response, and blameless postmortems
- Improve engineering planning, code delivery, and incident learning
- Represent technical direction to senior leadership, customers, and partners
