About the Role
Advise product and engineering teams on legal and regulatory matters for blockchain-based payments, translating complex US financial services requirements into actionable guidance. Design and evolve compliance policies and product governance frameworks, embed KYC, AML, sanctions, and data privacy controls into workflows, manage external counsel, and support product and operational risk reviews.
Requirements
- J.D. degree from an accredited law school and active admission to at least one U.S. state bar.
- 7+ years of legal experience in fintech, payments, banking, or blockchain environments.
- Strong expertise in US financial services regulation, including money transmission and payments frameworks.
- Experience advising on product legal and compliance matters in fintech, crypto, or payments infrastructure.
- Experience building or implementing compliance policies, governance frameworks, or risk management programs.
- Ability to translate regulatory requirements into practical guidance for product and engineering teams.
Responsibilities
- Serve as the primary legal advisor to product and engineering teams developing blockchain-based payments and financial infrastructure.
- Provide legal and regulatory guidance on US financial services laws, money transmission, and payments regulation.
- Design, implement, and evolve compliance policies, product governance frameworks, and risk assessment processes.
- Partner with compliance, risk, and security teams to embed KYC, AML, sanctions, and data privacy controls into product workflows.
- Translate regulatory requirements and enforcement trends into clear guidance for product, engineering, and business teams.
- Collaborate cross-functionally to align product strategy with legal, regulatory, and internal policy standards.
- Manage external counsel and support reviews related to product and operational risk.
