About the Role
You will build and maintain core infrastructure for Arbitrum, solve distributed-systems challenges, and optimize platform performance, security, and scalability. You will support clients and internal stakeholders, maintain the Nitro Testnode, review code, define backend standards, design compiler pipelines and SDKs, and help drive API-first microservice and data-modeling roadmaps.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree or U.S. equivalent in Computer Science, Cybersecurity, Computer Engineering, or a related field, plus 5 years of relevant professional experience; alternatively, a Master's degree or U.S. equivalent plus 3 years of relevant professional experience
- 3 years of experience developing backend systems using Go or Rust
- 3 years of experience working on protocols spanning L1s to L2s
- 3 years of experience collaborating with research teams on blockchain technologies and cryptocurrency platforms
- 3 years of experience building distributed systems, including reliable broadcast protocols, distributed data structures, and high-performance database storage engines
- 3 years of experience collaborating with security in distributed systems environments
- 3 years of experience working with blockchain protocols
- 1 year of experience with WebAssembly in production environments
- 1 year of experience with AWS, Docker, and Kubernetes
Responsibilities
- Build core infrastructure powering Arbitrum
- Solve distributed systems challenges and optimize performance
- Contribute to the security and scalability of Arbitrum
- Collaborate with research, product, and blockchain engineering teams
- Provide technical support and engineering guidance to clients and internal stakeholders
- Maintain and enhance the Nitro Testnode product
- Conduct peer code reviews
- Establish backend architectural standards and engineering best practices
- Design high-performance compiler pipelines and extensible SDK frameworks
- Resolve security issues and identify vulnerabilities in distributed systems code
- Drive technical roadmaps for distributed systems, data modeling, microservices, databases, and API-first strategies
