About the Role
You will support investment activities in technology startups serving the retail and financial services industries. You will drive due diligence, manage new-investment processes, build executive and founder relationships, review business plans and pitch decks, support portfolio companies, and prepare market analyses and presentations for investment decisions.
Requirements
- Have 3–5 years of total prior work experience
- Have 2–3 years of full-time experience as an investment professional at a technology-focused venture capital or growth equity firm
- Have a track record of managing investment processes, leading financial analyses, and conducting customer and management diligence calls
- Have 2–3 years of experience in investment banking, strategy consulting, or strategy, business development, or corporate development in a relevant sector
- Have a strong understanding of financial modeling and accounting
- Write investment memos that summarize financial analyses, market research, and company diligence
- Have an undergraduate degree from a top-tier institution
- Be located in or willing to relocate to San Francisco and work in person
- MBA graduates must be graduating in Spring 2024
Responsibilities
- Drive and review due diligence, including business analysis, industry theses, investment sourcing, competitive landscapes, business and pricing models, financial modeling, and deal structuring
- Manage investment processes for new investments, including resource management and business and legal due diligence
- Build proprietary relationships with industry executives and startup founders
- Read and review business plans and pitch decks
- Work strategically with existing portfolio companies as needed
- Prepare market analyses and presentations to support investment decisions and engage corporate relationships
- Contribute to weekly internal meetings on new investments and portfolio companies
