About the Role
You will build and manage Discord communities by creating channels, setting up bots, designing onboarding flows, and keeping conversations active. You will host AMAs, journal clubs, voice chats, and live Spaces, and create programming like workshops and research highlights to keep members engaged. You will connect people by identifying emerging voices, facilitating introductions, and helping members find collaborators. You will moderate discussions to maintain a welcoming, inclusive environment and track community health metrics while experimenting with new formats to drive engagement.
Requirements
- Bachelor's or Master's in biology, biochemistry, biotech, or related field
- Experience using and moderating Discord communities
- Active participation in online science communities (Twitter/X, Reddit, Discord)
- Strong warm and accessible writing skills
- Comfortable hosting and participating in voice chats
- Self-starter who takes initiative
- Organized with ability to manage multiple channels and events
