About the Role
You will establish and maintain a robust risk framework, conduct risk assessments, and oversee controls required to meet regulatory standards. You will advise senior leadership, manage incidents and escalation processes, develop reporting and training, and maintain the Risk Appetite Statement and associated governance.
Requirements
- 7+ years of experience in a risk management function within financial services
- Experience developing risk governance frameworks and overseeing a risk function
- Understanding of UAE, ADGM, FSRA, and VARA regulatory frameworks
- Knowledge of risk governance frameworks, enterprise risk management, incident management, disaster recovery, and business risk assessments
- Leadership experience managing teams and influencing senior stakeholders
- Knowledge of digital asset regulation and associated risks
- Strong interest in blockchain technology
- UAE residency eligibility and ability to work regularly from ADGM
- Exceptional communication skills
- Desirable experience in digital asset firms, custody, or blockchain analytics tools
Responsibilities
- Design and enhance the enterprise-wide risk management framework
- Conduct comprehensive risk assessments
- Advise the executive team and board on risk
- Identify, mitigate, and manage operational risks
- Address cybersecurity risks and develop cybersecurity policies
- Manage credit, market, and liquidity risks
- Oversee stress testing
- Monitor reputational risks and develop crisis-management strategies
- Establish risk analytics and reporting frameworks
- Provide regular risk reports
- Foster risk awareness and design risk-management training
- Manage risk, compliance, and operational incidents when no dedicated Incident Manager is appointed
- Identify, log, triage, and escalate incidents without delay
- Coordinate immediate incident responses with internal and external stakeholders
- Assess regulatory notification obligations and make required regulator notifications
- Maintain an incident register with root causes, impacts, remediation actions, and lessons learned
- Escalate material incidents to senior management and the Board
- Support post-incident reviews and track remediation to closure
- Own and maintain the Risk Appetite Statement
- Define escalation thresholds for material risk categories
- Maintain risk-appetite breach reporting protocols
- Maintain independence from business and revenue-generating functions
- Declare conflicts of interest and recuse from compromised decisions
