About the Role

You will act as the proposed Responsible Manager for an Australian Financial Services Licence application, support ASIC-facing materials and questions, and evidence organisational competence. You will review digital asset products and tokens under Australian law, maintain the local token perimeter register, provide regulatory oversight, support governance updates, maintain audit-ready records, coordinate with regulators and advisers, localise compliance frameworks, implement policies and controls, define monitoring and reporting requirements, deliver Australia-specific training, and translate regulatory requirements into practical operating rules across business functions.

Requirements

  • Be based and ordinarily resident in Australia.
  • Have 8+ years of experience in financial services compliance, licensing, legal/regulatory, risk, payments, or digital assets.
  • Have demonstrable ASIC-regulated financial services experience.
  • Have prior Responsible Manager, AFSL application, authorised representative, compliance lead, legal counsel, or equivalent organisational competence experience.
  • Support ASIC-facing Responsible Manager proofs and regulator questions.
  • Understand Australian financial services regulation, Corporations Act obligations, AFCA, PI insurance, breach reporting, and governance expectations.
  • Have practical knowledge of payments, digital assets, stablecoins, crypto exchanges and on/off-ramps, remittance, or fintech infrastructure.
  • Demonstrate strong documentation and escalation discipline.
  • Demonstrate commercial pragmatism and the ability to work with Product, Operations, Legal, Compliance, Banking, and Commercial teams.

Responsibilities

  • Act as the proposed Responsible Manager for the Australian Financial Services Licence application.
  • Support preparation of ASIC FS01, A5/B5 business description proofs, Responsible Manager proofs, competence statements, and related application materials.
  • Evidence appropriate knowledge, skill, experience, and availability for the proposed authorisations.
  • Work with local counsel to finalise the Responsible Manager competence pack.
  • Support responses to ASIC questions during application review.
  • Review listed assets token by token to determine which may be financial products under Australian law.
  • Map services and product categories against the 31 December 2025 no-action relief cut-off.
  • Identify tokens or services that may fall outside available relief.
  • Support remediation plans for products, categories, or services outside relief or intended AFSL coverage.
  • Maintain an Australia token perimeter register with Legal, Compliance, Product, and Risk.
  • Provide local regulatory oversight.
  • Support board and director updates on AFSL, ASIC relief, remediation, AFCA, PI insurance, and compliance framework status.
  • Maintain audit-ready records of local decisions, approvals, and regulatory advice.
  • Coordinate with AFCA, ASIC-facing counsel, auditors, insurers, and banking partners.
  • Escalate issues where local operations may exceed licence coverage, no-action relief, or risk appetite.
  • Localise the compliance framework for Australia.
  • Support implementation of AFSL-ready policies and controls.
  • Define local monitoring, reporting, and evidence requirements.
  • Support Australia-specific training for business teams.
  • Translate regulatory requirements into practical operating rules for Product, Engineering, Operations, Commercial, Treasury, and Support.
  • Support banking and PSP conversations with local compliance context.
  • Enable expansion while maintaining documentation, escalation, and control standards.
