Epoch AI investigates the trajectory of artificial intelligence by tracking drivers and bottlenecks, measuring model capabilities, and forecasting AI’s impacts. It operates public datasets and benchmarking work, and also provides commissioned research, model evaluations, and consultations.

About the Role
Investigate the drivers, progress, capabilities, and impacts of AI. Produce analyses, data insights, reports, benchmarks, forecasts, and public research across areas such as data centers, supply chains, polling, experiments, AI capability trends, and benchmarking.
Requirements
- Demonstrate curiosity and rapid learning across diverse domains
- Apply rigorous quantitative reasoning under uncertainty
- Be familiar with AI trends
- Demonstrate excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Demonstrate professional-level English proficiency
Responsibilities
- Examine drivers of AI development and track AI capability progress
- Measure and forecast AI impacts
- Define research directions and open new investigations
- Produce data insights and reports on AI data centers
- Investigate AI compute supply chains and publish data explorers, insights, and reports
- Design and analyze polls, randomized controlled trials, and behavioral data
- Conduct exploratory investigations and publish reports or newsletter posts
- Create, run, analyze, review, and certify AI capability benchmarks
- Maintain and extend the Epoch Capabilities Index and capability-trend research
