About the Role
You will set the research agenda for frontier customization and fine-tuning techniques in Tinker. You will lead and develop researchers, remain hands-on with fine-tuning and reinforcement-learning science, improve the stability and reliability of large-scale runs, and represent the work through publications, technical writing, and community contributions.
Requirements
- Track record of leading research direction for a team or major research effort
- Proficiency in Python
- Familiarity with PyTorch, TensorFlow, or JAX
- Ability to debug distributed training and write scalable code
- Ability to explain complex technical concepts and build alignment across science, infrastructure, and product
Responsibilities
- Set the research agenda and roadmap for Tinker quality, efficiency, and reliability
- Lead, hire, mentor, and develop researchers
- Set standards for experimental rigor and research quality
- Conduct hands-on research in LoRA, parameter-efficient fine-tuning, reinforcement learning, and post-training
- Improve the stability, efficiency, and reliability of large-scale fine-tuning and reinforcement-learning runs
- Represent the work through papers, technical blog posts, and community contributions
