About the Role
You will lead computational drug-discovery programmes as a Program Lead or Computational Chemistry Lead. You will set technical strategy, apply AI-first approaches, collaborate across disciplines, improve computational chemistry workflows, and guide projects from target discovery toward clinical candidate selection. Some roles include mentoring and line-managing computational chemists.
Requirements
- PhD or equivalent industrial experience in Computational Chemistry or a related scientific field
- 5+ or 8+ years of computational drug-design experience in biotech, pharma, or a CRO
- Experience leading computational chemistry efforts on drug-discovery programmes
- Python scripting, cheminformatics, tool development, or workflow-pipelining expertise
- Experience applying machine learning and generative AI to hit finding, molecular design, and lead optimisation
- Scientific achievement demonstrated through publications, patents, or presentations
- Communication, cross-functional collaboration, strategic thinking, and problem-solving skills
Responsibilities
- Lead computational drug-design programmes and provide technical and strategic direction
- Apply AI-first approaches to drug design and programme execution
- Collaborate across functions to deliver scientific solutions to complex problems
- Embed AI and machine learning into computational chemistry workflows
- Provide strategic and technical input to machine learning platform teams
- Identify and validate therapeutic targets for early-stage portfolio projects
- Lead drug-discovery pipelines, external CRO collaborations, and programme milestones when acting as Program Lead
- Prepare scientific proposals and reports for ongoing and new programmes
