About the Role
You will source and evaluate grants, research disease and technology areas, conduct diligence, and help manage a growing grant portfolio. You will support strategic planning, engage external organizations, build relationships across health and science, identify ecosystem gaps, write recommendations, and help launch new initiatives.
Requirements
- 7–10+ years of experience preferred
- Relevant experience in biology, chemistry, translational medicine, drug development, clinical practice, global health, biotechnology, or life-sciences venture or grant investing
- Ability to engage across scientific and strategic topics
- Ability to evaluate scientific, technical, or organizational opportunities and make recommendations
- Experience engaging external experts, institutions, and stakeholders
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Strong judgment, follow-through, and autonomy
- Ability to work in an ambiguous, evolving environment
- High ownership, discretion, and accountability
Responsibilities
- Source, evaluate, and recommend grants and funding opportunities
- Research disease and technology areas and develop investment theses
- Conduct diligence on organizations, projects, and leaders
- Help design and manage a grant portfolio
- Support strategy development and opportunity prioritization
- Engage researchers, nonprofits, academic centers, public-interest organizations, data platforms, funders, and potential grantees
- Build relationships across biology, medicine, public health, data infrastructure, open science, and AI-enabled research
- Identify ecosystem gaps and develop partnership or field-building ideas
- Help create and launch new initiatives
- Write internal recommendations and strategy memos
- Represent the program in external conversations
