About the Role
You will define technical strategies and architectures for highly scalable distributed systems. You will design and implement Golang services, optimize Apache Kafka data pipelines, establish AWS usage patterns, and evolve Kubernetes-based engineering platforms with Crossplane and Argo. You will promote AI-assisted engineering, lead design reviews and architecture decisions, mentor senior engineers, investigate production issues, and improve CI/CD observability testing and application security.
Requirements
- Strong experience developing systems in Golang including concurrency performance tuning and software design
- Production experience with Kafka producers consumers Kafka Streams or Connect schema registry performance tuning and pipeline observability
- Solid AWS experience including EC2 ECS or EKS Lambda S3 RDS or DynamoDB SQS or SNS IAM and VPC
- Solid production experience with Kubernetes Crossplane Argo CD and Argo Workflows
- Practical AI Engineering experience with LLM integration prompt engineering RAG and model evaluation
- Experience with coding agents such as Claude Code or GitHub Copilot
- Broad distributed systems architecture experience including microservices messaging events data consistency resilience and API design
- Knowledge of data structures algorithms scalability CAP theorem and architectural trade-offs
- Experience with CI/CD in containerized environments
- Proven technical leadership without direct people management
- Excellent written and verbal communication
- 10+ years of software development experience in architecture senior engineering staff or principal roles
- Prior experience in financial banking or regulated environments is desirable
- Advanced observability experience is desirable
- Additional Infrastructure as Code experience is desirable
- Open source contributions or technical conference speaking is desirable
- AWS CKA CKAD or Confluent Kafka certifications are desirable
- Experience with Java or Python backend development is desirable
Responsibilities
- Define technical strategies and architectures for distributed systems
- Lead the design and implementation of Golang services
- Design and optimize Apache Kafka data pipelines and event-driven integrations
- Define AWS usage patterns for compute containers networking storage and observability
- Evolve internal engineering platforms with Kubernetes Crossplane and Argo
- Promote generative AI and coding-agent adoption in engineering workflows
- Conduct design reviews RFCs and architecture decision records
- Mentor senior and staff engineers
- Collaborate with Product SRE Infrastructure Security and Technology stakeholders
- Investigate and resolve production performance reliability and scalability issues
- Improve CI/CD observability automated testing application security and quality practices
