About the Role
You will own and maintain policy for conventional-weapons use cases. You will build threat models and evaluations, partner with engineers on guardrails and detection systems, handle escalations, communicate policy across functions, and incorporate input from external, government, and industry experts.
Requirements
- Applied expertise in weapons systems
- Experience in a weapons-systems research, defense, innovation, or development setting
- Policy writing skills
- Knowledge of legal frameworks governing weapons and weapons transfers
- Open-source technical analysis skills
Responsibilities
- Own and maintain conventional-weapons policy
- Define prohibited weapons-development boundaries and legitimate research boundaries
- Build and maintain threat models and evaluations
- Partner with engineering on model guardrails, detection systems, and enforcement tooling
- Serve as the subject-matter expert for conventional-weapons escalations
- Communicate policy reasoning to technical and non-technical audiences
- Engage external experts, government partners, and industry partners
