About the Role
You will establish and govern physical-security standards across contract manufacturing locations. You will assess sites, drive corrective actions, protect sensitive areas and intellectual property, oversee guard services and security systems, govern cargo security, respond to incidents, maintain reporting and procedures, and regularly visit manufacturing sites.
Requirements
- At least 5 years of progressively responsible physical-security experience in manufacturing, industrial, semiconductor, electronics, computing hardware, or a comparable environment
- Experience implementing security controls in active manufacturing operations
- Experience supporting contract manufacturers, suppliers, or partner-operated facilities
- Experience protecting intellectual property, proprietary processes, prototypes, components, products, or sensitive technical information
- Knowledge of access control, video surveillance, intrusion detection, visitor management, alarm monitoring, and guard-service oversight
- Familiarity with cargo security, chain of custody, secure shipping and receiving, logistics governance, and incident response
- Risk assessment, project management, written communication, analysis, and stakeholder influence skills
- Must be based in the San Francisco Bay Area, California
- Ability to travel approximately 30–40% and provide occasional evening, weekend, or short-notice support
Responsibilities
- Develop and govern physical-security standards, site requirements, exceptions, and risk acceptance for manufacturing locations
- Conduct initial, recurring, and event-driven site assessments and verify corrective-action closure
- Design and govern sensitive-area entry controls, visitor access, escorting, and exceptions
- Protect intellectual property, prototypes, components, products, and controlled materials through security controls
- Oversee partner-managed guard services and manage security-service performance where applicable
- Collaborate on access control, video surveillance, intrusion detection, visitor management, and alarm-monitoring systems
- Define physical-security requirements for manufacturing partners, production lines, expansions, contracts, and statements of work
- Govern cargo and logistics security, chain of custody, secure staging, shipping, receiving, and carrier handoffs
- Respond to security incidents, preserve evidence, identify root causes, and track corrective actions
- Maintain site presence, security metrics, risk reporting, procedures, training, and leadership updates
