About the Role
You will define microarchitecture for a photonic communication fabric, from component design through top-level layout. You will propose photonic device designs, estimate performance, power, and area, collaborate with photonic and analog engineers on high-bandwidth interconnect solutions, and author, review, and validate architectural specifications.
Requirements
- PhD in Electrical Engineering, Physics, Applied Physics, or a photonics-related discipline
- In-depth knowledge of photonic devices and semiconductor physics
- Experience with integrated silicon photonics components
- Experience with photonic simulation tools including FDTD, umerical, Verilog-A, or VPI Photonics
- Cross-disciplinary collaboration skills
- Problem-solving skills for non-obvious technical problems
Responsibilities
- Propose photonic designs for modulators, receivers, multiplexers, lasers, and amplifiers
- Provide performance, power, and area estimates for photonic devices
- Collaborate with analog engineering on high-bandwidth photonic interconnect solutions
- Author, review, and validate architectural specifications
