About the Role

You will own the power-conversion architecture for solar and storage across concurrent sites. You will write PCS and inverter specifications, qualify vendors, define converter-control requirements, and lead energization and commissioning. You will investigate converter trips, derates, and firmware regressions, then incorporate fixes into the standard design.

Requirements

  • Experience taking power conversion from specification through energized grid-scale storage or solar deployment
  • Experience writing PCS or inverter specifications and holding vendors to them
  • Experience debugging converter behavior using scope traces, power-quality captures, and event records
  • Experience with grid-forming operation on islanded plants
  • Experience translating field failures into standard-design changes
  • Clear written communication
  • Grid-forming control
  • EMT validation
  • PSCAD
  • EMTP
  • PLECS
  • converter design
  • BESS
  • inverter certification
  • UL 1741
  • IEEE 1547
  • UL 9540A
  • microgrid operation
  • Professional Engineer license

Responsibilities

  • Own PCS, inverter topology, DC architecture, filtering, and MV collection interfaces
  • Write PCS and inverter specifications and qualify vendor platforms
  • Lead factory witness testing, site acceptance, and warranty compliance
  • Define converter-control requirements for firm load, grid-forming, grid-following, ride-through, step-load response, and reactive capability
  • Lead conversion-side energization and commissioning
  • Root-cause converter trips, derates, and firmware regressions
  • Incorporate fleet fixes into the standard design
