Ensure employees across African markets are paid accurately and on time by coordinating payroll inputs, external providers, reporting, reconciliations, and compliance with local legislation.
Requirements
- Diploma or Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Human Resources, or a related field.
- 1–3 years of payroll experience.
- Hands-on experience using payroll software.
- Intermediate to advanced Microsoft Excel skills.
- High attention to detail and strong organizational skills, with discretion when handling confidential payroll data.
- Experience supporting payroll across multiple African countries in a high-growth, multi-entity organization is a nice-to-have.
- Experience with outsourced payroll providers, payroll journals, and reconciliations is a nice-to-have.
- Familiarity with BambooHR or similar HRIS and NetSuite or similar ERP is a nice-to-have.
- Working knowledge of payroll tax, statutory deductions, and labour legislation across African jurisdictions is a nice-to-have.
Responsibilities
- Support end-to-end payroll processing across multiple African countries from input validation through disbursement under the Payroll Manager's supervision.
- Review HR payroll inputs for completeness and accuracy and resolve missing or inconsistent information before cutoff.
- Process approved payroll changes including hires, terminations, salary adjustments, bonuses, commissions, leave, and benefits.
- Coordinate submissions with external payroll providers, track timelines, and investigate discrepancies before approval.
- Prepare payroll journals and reconcile payroll-related balance sheet accounts.
- Generate recurring and ad hoc payroll reports and support month-end and year-end reporting and audits.
- Respond professionally to employee payroll queries.
- Maintain knowledge of payroll legislation, statutory deductions, and labour law across African markets and keep controls and documentation audit-ready.
