About the Role
You will create actuator, pressure-vessel, hot-gas-valve, thruster, and solid-rocket-motor designs. You will develop 2D and 3D models and technical drawings, perform structural, thermal, dynamic, tolerance, and CFD analyses, evaluate materials and manufacturing methods, and produce technical reports.
Requirements
- 4–7 years of mechanical engineering experience
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or a relevant engineering discipline, or equivalent experience
- Ability to travel approximately 10% of the time
- Ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. security clearance
- U.S. citizenship required for security-clearance eligibility
Responsibilities
- Develop actuator, pressure-vessel, hot-gas-valve, thruster, and solid-rocket-motor designs
- Analyze design alternatives and provide recommendations
- Create 2D and 3D models, assemblies, and technical drawings
- Interpret and apply GD&T
- Perform CFD, structural, dynamic, thermal, and tolerance analyses
- Validate analysis results and optimize designs
- Evaluate ceramic, rubber, phenolic, metal, and refractory materials
- Support additive manufacturing, mechanical assembly, composite manufacturing, machining, molding, casting, and welding activities
- Develop program plans and coordinate activities
- Analyze requirements and risks
- Create technical reports and user manuals
