About the Role
You will commission, test, troubleshoot, and document mechanical systems supporting data centers. You will perform system tests, verify controls, resolve issues, coordinate startup and integrated testing, maintain drawings and records, follow safety procedures, train operations personnel, and provide field feedback on design and installation quality.
Requirements
- 3+ years of hands-on mechanical, HVAC, pipefitting, or commissioning experience in data centers, power plants, or large industrial facilities
- Knowledge of chilled-water plants, pumping systems, heat-transfer equipment, and mechanical distribution
- Experience with commissioning and field test equipment
- Ability to interpret P&IDs, mechanical drawings, and equipment submittals
- Current OSHA 10/30 or equivalent training
- Willingness to work extended hours, nights, and weekends during commissioning windows
- Ability to travel extensively and remain onsite during peak commissioning phases
- Ability to work in industrial environments, climb ladders, lift moderate loads, and wear PPE for extended periods
Responsibilities
- Execute mechanical commissioning for water systems, cooling equipment, air handlers, liquid-cooling equipment, and controls
- Perform flush, fill, leak, and pressure tests
- Verify valve lineups, flow, temperature, and pressure against design requirements
- Complete point-to-point checks with controls technicians
- Troubleshoot mechanical issues during commissioning and startup
- Develop and execute commissioning test procedures and documentation
- Coordinate startup sequences and integrated system testing
- Walk systems against drawings, mark redlines, manage punch-list items, and drive closeout
- Follow safety, LOTO, and quality procedures
- Maintain as-built documentation, test records, and commissioning reports
- Support training for operations and maintenance teams
- Provide constructability feedback
