About the Role
You will lead collection development, manage the collections budget, analyze data, select materials, negotiate electronic-resource agreements, and supervise library staff. You will develop policies and workflows, collaborate with institutional partners, and manage vendor and publisher relationships.
Requirements
- Master’s degree in Library or Information Science from an ALA-accredited institution or equivalent
- 4+ years of progressively responsible professional experience in an academic, research, or similarly complex library environment
- Supervisory experience
- Experience with collection development, selection, resource evaluation, and budget decision-making
- Experience using data, assessment tools, or financial information for decisions
- Familiarity with legal electronic-resource platforms, access models, and licensing concepts
- Experience with electronic resources, licensing, vendor relations, workflows, or cross-institutional collaboration
- Analytical, organizational, and communication skills
Responsibilities
- Manage the collections budget, implementation plans, forecasts, and resource allocation
- Analyze data to inform renewal, cancellation, acquisition, and format decisions
- Develop financial models and budget projections
- Select legal and academic collection materials
- Assess print and digital collections
- Develop and refine collection-development policies, procedures, and workflows
- Collaborate with Harvard Library offices and peer institutions
- Supervise collection development staff
- Negotiate electronic-resource licenses and contracts
- Manage relationships with publishers, vendors, consortia partners, and library stakeholders
