About the Role

You will join the legal team in Tunis to provide accurate and timely legal advice on matters governed by Libyan law, including civil, commercial, administrative, and labor law. You will draft, review, and negotiate contracts, MoUs, joint venture agreements, and compliance documentation. You will monitor Libyan legislative and regulatory developments and advise internal stakeholders on their implications. You will liaise between Tunis-based operations and Libyan clients, authorities, and counterparties, and support interactions with Libyan ministries, regulators, and licensing bodies. You will help mitigate legal risks, manage disputes, support compliance processes aligned with Libyan and Tunisian regulations, and contribute to internal training on Libyan legal frameworks.

Requirements

  • Law degree from a recognized university; postgraduate legal qualifications are an advantage
  • Admitted to practice law in Libya, or with demonstrated and verifiable expertise in Libyan legal matters
  • Minimum of 3 years' legal experience, ideally including cross-border or in-house advisory work with a focus on Libyan jurisdiction
  • Fluency in Arabic and English is essential; French is an asset
  • Strong legal drafting, analytical, and negotiation skills
  • Excellent communication skills with a culturally sensitive and professional demeanor
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently, manage multiple priorities, and meet tight deadlines
  • Strong understanding of the legal, political, and economic landscape in Libya

Responsibilities

  • Provide accurate and timely legal advice on matters governed by Libyan law, including civil, commercial, administrative, and labor law
  • Draft, review, and negotiate legal instruments such as contracts, MoUs, joint venture agreements, partnership agreements, and compliance documentation
  • Monitor legislative and regulatory developments in Libya and advise internal stakeholders accordingly
  • Liaise between Tunis-based operations and Libyan clients, authorities, and counterparties
  • Support interactions with Libyan ministries, regulatory authorities, licensing bodies, and legal institutions
  • Mitigate legal risks, manage disputes, and support internal compliance processes aligned with Libyan and Tunisian regulations
  • Contribute to internal training and awareness sessions related to Libyan legal frameworks
