About the Role
You will lead traveling fiber crews through installation, testing, commissioning, handover, and closeout for data center infrastructure. You will plan work, mentor technicians, perform splicing and certification, troubleshoot fiber systems, maintain documentation, coordinate with construction trades, and manage equipment and site mobilization.
Requirements
- 5+ years of direct fiber optic installation, splicing, and testing experience in large-scale data center or critical infrastructure environments
- 2+ years in a foreman, crew lead, or supervisory role leading fiber or cabling teams
- Experience working on traveling or multi-site construction projects
- High school diploma or equivalency certificate
- Knowledge of fiber optic best practices, OTDR and power-meter testing, structured cabling, and safety protocols
- Willingness and ability to travel extensively, typically 50–75% or more, across the United States
- Ability to work at heights and in active construction environments
- Ability to lift up to 35 lbs unassisted
- Valid driver's license and clean driving record
Responsibilities
- Lead traveling fiber crews and assign daily work
- Mentor Fiber Technicians and provide training, technical guidance, and feedback
- Oversee fiber installation projects from planning through closeout
- Maintain safe, productive, high-quality, and compliant construction work
- Inspect work and conduct quality checks
- Troubleshoot, repair, and install fiber optic systems in OSP and ISP environments
- Lead fiber splicing, termination, labeling, and certification
- Maintain fiber infrastructure, testing routines, records, as-built drawings, and designs
- Coordinate with superintendents, project managers, trades, and general contractors
- Support site mobilization, demobilization, equipment management, and knowledge transfer
