About the Role
You will develop and implement patent strategies, oversee patent development and prosecution, and advise on intellectual property matters. You will conduct IP diligence, evaluate patent licensing and acquisition opportunities, respond to patent demands, and advise on IP terms in commercial agreements.
Requirements
- JD and active membership in at least one U.S. state bar
- Registration to practice before the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office
- Substantial experience in patent invention harvesting, prosecution, and portfolio development
- Working knowledge of trademarks, trade secrets, and open source
- Experience working with engineers, researchers, or product teams to protect inventions
- Experience implementing IP strategies in rapidly evolving technical environments
Responsibilities
- Support organic patent development, including invention harvesting, drafting oversight, prosecution management, and outside-counsel coordination
- Develop and implement U.S. and international patent strategies
- Provide guidance on patents, trademarks, trade secrets, and open source
- Analyze and respond to third-party patent demands
- Evaluate patent acquisition and licensing opportunities
- Conduct IP due diligence for M&A transactions and strategic partnerships
- Advise on IP aspects of commercial agreements
