About the Role
You will manage life sciences patent strategy and filings from invention harvesting through global prosecution. You will advise researchers on AI-assisted inventorship, develop filing strategies, coordinate publication timing, advise on research agreements and freedom-to-operate matters, and provide guidance on emerging legal developments.
Requirements
- Law degree and local licensing eligibility for in-house counsel
- Life sciences or chemistry training
- Hands-on experience drafting and prosecuting U.S. life sciences patent applications
- Experience directing foreign prosecution
- Experience managing a patent portfolio, budget, and outside counsel
- Experience with inventorship and ownership questions in multi-party research
- Ability to communicate legal risk as practical guidance
- Interest in AI and science
Responsibilities
- Manage global patent strategy and filings for life sciences research
- Conduct invention harvesting and make filing decisions
- Oversee drafting, prosecution, and outside counsel
- Advise life science research teams on patent matters
- Make inventorship determinations for AI-assisted research
- Develop claim and filing strategies for biological, chemical, and computational inventions
- Coordinate publication and open-source release timing
- Advise on patent aspects of life science and biopharma agreements
- Support patent diligence and freedom-to-operate analyses
- Monitor emerging legal developments affecting AI and life sciences
