Internship Modeling and Study of Asymmetric 3D Kinetic Steam Pipe Rupture
Framatome is an international nuclear-energy company that supplies nuclear-plant components, fuel, instrumentation and control systems, and reactor services.
About Framatome
Framatome designs, services, and installs components, fuel, and instrumentation and control systems for the global nuclear fleet. Its current corporate headquarters is in Courbevoie, France, and it is majority-owned by EDF.
Skills
Candidate Availability
Required and preferred rules are kept separate and reflect the wording in the original posting.
About the Role
You will develop datasets to model coupled three-dimensional kinetic simulations of asymmetric steam-pipe ruptures using SCIENCE calculation codes. You will define relevant assumptions and parameters, including rupture sizes, temperature differences between loops, and axial power differences, then quantify their effects on protection-system responses and safety margins.
Requirements
- Master's-level engineering degree or equivalent university degree in progress
- Basic knowledge of reactor operation or safety
- Knowledge of neutronics, thermal engineering, or thermohydraulics
- Python programming knowledge is preferred
Responsibilities
- Develop datasets for coupled three-dimensional kinetic simulations of asymmetric steam-pipe ruptures
- Use SCIENCE calculation codes
- Define relevant modeling assumptions and parameters
- Assess the effects of parameters on protection-system responses and safety margins
