About the Role
You will design data center whitespace layouts, integrate power and cooling infrastructure, optimize capacity and airflow, coordinate cabling and connectivity, validate redundancy strategies, produce CAD and BIM documentation, support construction and commissioning, conduct design reviews and inspections, and provide technical guidance.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in electrical, mechanical, facilities, or data center engineering, or equivalent experience
- 5+ years of data center design experience
- Understanding of data center power distribution and UPS architectures
- Understanding of cooling systems and HVAC infrastructure
- Experience with structured cabling and network connectivity design
- Experience with whitespace layout optimization and equipment density planning
- Proficiency with AutoCAD, Revit, Visio, or equivalent CAD/BIM tools
- Knowledge of TIA-942, Uptime Institute, ASHRAE, and ANSI/BICSI standards
- Ability to collaborate across engineering, infrastructure, and deployment teams
- Experience supporting multiple projects
- Willingness to travel to data center sites
Responsibilities
- Design whitespace layouts, rack placement, aisles, equipment density, and airflow strategy
- Integrate power distribution and cooling infrastructure
- Optimize designs for capacity, scalability, redundancy, airflow, and energy efficiency
- Coordinate structured cabling, connectivity, and fiber management
- Validate N+1 and 2N redundancy strategies
- Apply industry standards, building codes, and safety regulations
- Develop CAD and BIM drawings, schematics, and 3D models
- Create capacity planning models
- Maintain technical documentation
- Support construction, installation, commissioning, and deployment
- Participate in design reviews, risk assessments, and site inspections
- Provide technical guidance to internal teams and contractors
- Evaluate new technologies and modular designs
- Conduct post-occupancy evaluations
