About the Role

You will assist researchers with experiments involving nuclear or radiated materials. You will operate hot-cell equipment, manipulators, cranes, forklifts, and other industrial equipment after qualification. You will document work, manage radioactive waste activities, troubleshoot operational issues, and maintain safety and compliance requirements.

Requirements

  • High school diploma and 3 years of nuclear operations experience, or an associate degree in a technical field and 2 years of related experience, or an equivalent combination
  • Complete Rad Worker II training
  • Complete NNFD training and examination requirements within 24 months
  • Complete required facility-systems and safety training
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a Department of Energy clearance
  • Pass a pre-placement drug test and participate in ongoing random drug testing
  • Complete a pre-hire physical
  • Visa sponsorship is not available

Responsibilities

  • Assist R&D staff with mission tasks within facilities
  • Support compliant facility operations and research availability
  • Identify and troubleshoot complex operational problems
  • Obtain qualification as a BVO Hot Cell Operator
  • Use tele-manipulators and specialized hot-cell processing equipment
  • Operate overhead cranes, forklifts, and other industrial equipment after qualification
  • Prepare clear and accurate work documentation
  • Assist with the removal, inspection, segregation, and disposition of radioactive waste
  • Maintain safe, clear, and orderly work areas
  • Ensure compliance with environmental, safety, health, industrial hygiene, and quality requirements
  • Wear required personal protective equipment
