About the Role
You will draft and edit policy materials, research summaries, briefings, and online content for internal and external audiences. You will coordinate advisory committees, stakeholder communications, meetings, workshops, and public programs. You will synthesize technical research for policy-relevant audiences, support grant reporting, contribute to outreach, and assist with executive briefings and member engagement.
Requirements
- Ph.D. in an area of science or engineering, successfully defended before the position starts.
- Some experience or demonstrated interest in science and technology policy.
- At least one year of full-time professional experience outside doctoral training in a policy, nonprofit, government, or research organization.
- Eligibility to work in the United States without employer sponsorship.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills.
- Ability to synthesize and summarize research findings and recommendations for varied audiences.
- Organizational and event management skills.
- Interpersonal, problem-solving, prioritization, and task-management skills.
Responsibilities
- Draft and edit event summaries, briefing remarks, white papers, policy briefs, meeting summaries, and online content.
- Gather, synthesize, and translate research findings and technical data for policy-relevant audiences.
- Support grant reporting and contribute to grant proposal development as needed.
- Coordinate advisory committees and expert groups, including agendas, background materials, and meeting logistics.
- Draft meeting summaries and track follow-up actions and commitments.
- Support stakeholder engagement and prepare materials for partner convenings.
- Prepare and distribute conference and event materials and provide on-site support.
- Draft documentation for lectures, workshops, and policy discussions.
- Support outreach and communications activities.
- Collaborate with internal departments to complete program activities.
- Assist with executive briefings, presidential remarks, and speechwriting.
- Participate in member engagement initiatives.
- Identify professional development opportunities related to science and technology policy.
